Mole

I saw a mole on the way through the car park outside the prison yesterday. It was scuttling through the long grass. Ash coloured suedey coat and big digger hands the colour of horse-noses/mouse feet.

I've never seen a mole before.

When I came out of the prison in the afternoon and walked past the same bit of grass, I saw it again, on its back. I touched it and it was stiff.

Now I'd like to find out everything I can about moles.

Normal "high-quality" blog posts to resume soon.

Hey Jenn,

Thanks for popping by Ad Lad's Pad.

Sad to hear about your mole. Especially as it was your first.

They say you always remember your first mole. I don't but then I'm a country boy, so mine must have been when I was knee high to a scarecrow. A time now lost in pink mist.

Regarding Bonfire, no afraid they're kaput. I put it up because it was my first ever publication. Are you in the same issue?

I see, since then, your writing career has progressed considerably further than mine. (Cue five mins of self loathing.) Congrats on the book.

the first badger I saw was a splayed red dead one on the side of a road I was cycling up. It was a bit of a hill so I was going slowly and had plenty of time to see it.

About a week later I saw a real live one run very quickly - almost too quickly considering the size of it across the road I was driving along. It was dark and its white flashed in my headlights.

Maybe you'll get to see a real live mole next week.

I saw a young hare bouncing up the road the other day. That was pretty fab too

I have always wanted to hold a mole or possibly capture one for a pet ever since I saw one on Blue Peter. I'm not sure that interfering with wildlife was the message they were after, but that's what I took away from it.

I had tried to find a picture like this awhile back because I wanted to see what was destroying my backyard. I got a glimpse first hand last night when my dog killed one in my yard. Yes, they are fascinating looking. Look at those paws -- no wonder they do so much destruction! They are fascinating however, I agree.

I hate moles. They love to tear up my yard. I found one yesterday and was happy to kill it. Moles are little yard devils, don't be decieved by their cuteness.

I remember a boy called Toby brought a dead one into school once. We all got to stroke it - it was sooo soft and velvety! :) Nice memories.

I read where moles can be cancerous. You should have them looked at by a doctor. I cannot understand why anyone would want one of these critters on their body. I would have them removed immediately. Those claws look uncomfortable. But if you had one on your back, you would not need anyone to scratch your back.
